These images are not all from Ruette, but are all a few minutes drive from there. This was one of our favorite places and we'll go back I'm sure, and say in the same hotel.

No, we're not in Disneyland, although the Magic Kingdom Castle was based on this real-life castle. King Ludwig had this castle built overlooking his boyhood castle. It has never been completed, as King Ludwig died mysteriously before its completion. This castle is located in nearby Fussen, Germany.

This is a picture of the hotel we stayed in at Ruette. This picture was taken from the castle ruins that overlook the hotel. The ruins are lit up at night, and the view out of our window on the corner room was incredible. You'll love the Huter Family who've been running this pension for generations.

I couldn't resist added another view to this page. This castle is incredible. Do get there early for a tour. It can get as crowded as the Disneyland it resembles. We got there just after the gates opened, and crowds were not a problem. Take the gondola up to the top of the mountain for a great view along the way, and some excitement at the top.

I'll bet this guy had the best view of Ludwig's Castle. The parasailers and hang-gliders take the gondola up to the top, but have a much more exciting ride down. There were as many as ten in the air at one time.
